Black Lives Matter

Black Lives Matter

During April and May, Mind Chicago ran a Community Support Fundraiser for the Illinois COVID-19 Response Fund (ICRF), a fund helping communities hit hardest by the pandemic.  Mind Chicago donated 1% of total revenue from April and May and matched donations made to our fundraising site.  Thanks to all the contributions we were able to donate over $1400.  The ICRF notes that systemic inequality and racism led to disproportionate deaths in Black and Latinx/e communities in Illinois.  As such, they are providing substantial funding to community organizations and nonprofits serving the Black and POC communities in Illinois.

Mind Chicago stands with every child, family, and community in the fight to end racism, violence, and oppression against black lives.  We are listening and committed to doing different and better – However, this is NOT done by a couple of donations or social media posts.  Rather, we are engaging in continuous efforts to observe and address racism in ourselves and our practice through ongoing education, active listening, consultation, community involvement, and more.  Although our families and clients may be diverse, we are NOT immune to racism and we must continuously own this fact.  We are welcoming discomfort in observing, discussing, learning about, and challenging our own racism as well as that which is inherent in evidence-based therapy and neuropsychology. We welcome your questions, feedback and thoughts.  Please contact us via our website or at info@mindchicago.com.
