Naomi Kaplan, AM, LSW (she/her)

Individual, Group, and Family Therapist
INtake coordinator

Hi, I’m Naomi, and I’m delighted to meet you! Before we connect, here’s a little about me… I received my BS in Family Social Sciences and Psychology from the University of Minnesota and a Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work from The University of Chicago. I love to learn! That’s why I’m also a Contextually-focused Dialectical Behavior Therapy (C-DBT) Fellow at the University of Chicago. From my work in autism research at the Weiler Research Lab to my experience at Youth Guidance in Chicago, I am passionate about helping folks make changes and build stronger connections. I bring warmth and joy into the therapy space and a depth of skill and knowledge in contextually-based behavioral therapies (i.e., DBT, ACT, mindfulness-based approaches). My favorite part of the therapy experience is supporting children and families as they endure life transitions and reach important milestones. I specialize in working with children and teens with ADHD, anxiety, OCD, and those experiencing family system changes (i.e., divorce, loss, etc.).

My primary therapeutic approaches include:

Now to the fun stuff… Did you know I’m a born and raised camper? I went to the same camp for seven years as a camper and another five as staff! Camp is where I developed my passion for working with youth - and is my favorite place on earth! When I’m not at camp or in the office, you can find me getting creative in the kitchen! I make my own unique brand of kombucha, a fermented and effervescent tea! I believe that creativity - in the kitchen or elsewhere - promotes wellness and joy. How do you make space for creativity in your life?
