Amanda Torres, LSW (she/her)

Advanced clinical fellow

Hello, I’m Amanda, and I’m excited to meet you. Let me take a moment to share a little about myself and my background. I earned a BA in psychology from the University of Missouri and a master's in social work from the University of Illinois at Chicago, with a concentration in school social work. From Chicago Public Schools to Lurie Children’s Hospital, I've dedicated my career to delivering compassionate, evidence-based support to youth and families. Continually learning and growing to better serve children and families is a core professional value and commitment for me. That's why, in addition to my role in the Division of Epilepsy at Lurie Children’s Hospital, I'm undergoing advanced training in contextual behavioral therapies at Mind Chicago as an Advanced Clinical Fellow. The Advanced Clinical Fellowship offers experienced clinicians an opportunity to stay up-to-date with the most cutting-edge therapeutic techniques so they can provide gold-standard care to children and families. All that to say, I love working with kids, teens, and families to manage chronic health conditions such as epilepsy and other neurological disorders, as well as support young people and parents in managing anxiety, depression, and neurodevelopmental challenges.

A few fun facts about me… I enjoy spending my free time with my small dog, who has a BIG personality, finding the best gluten-free goodies in the city, and staying active with cycling and other fitness classes! Physical activity is a form of self-care for me; it keeps my body and mind healthy. How do you like to practice self-care?
